BeforeSunset AI is a productivity app that helps professionals plan their day, manage tasks, and stay focused with the power of AI.

As the Product Designer for over two years, I worked on both web and mobile platforms, shaping user flows, designing AI-powered features, and creating growth-focused assets like landing pages, onboarding, and paywalls.

In a fast-paced startup environment, I combined UX research, UI design, no-code development, and analytics-driven iteration to deliver a seamless experience that balanced user needs with business goals.

[THE CHALLANGE]

BeforeSunset users were struggling to plan their daily tasks in an efficient way. Existing productivity tools often felt complex and overwhelming, which caused frustration instead of motivation. What they needed was a simple yet intelligent assistant - a tool that could help structure their workflow without adding more complexity. Our goal was clear: to design an AI-powered daily planning experience that is simple, motivating, and effective.

[ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES]

As the product designer, I was responsible for shaping the entire experience across both web and mobile. This included dashboards, onboarding flows, paywall screens, and the in-app calendar and focus mode. I also designed AI-powered features and turned them into intuitive user flows. Beyond product design, I contributed to growth by creating landing pages, demo videos, and hero visuals. I developed and maintained landing pages directly in Framer as part of the no-code workflow. Finally, I continuously iterated on designs using A/B tests, analytics, and PostHog event tracking to optimize conversion and retention.

[RESEARCH ACTIVITIES & KEY INSIGHTS]

When we started shaping BeforeSunset AI, our main focus was to understand how professionals currently plan their days and where the biggest pain points existed.

Research Activities:

  • Competitive Analysis: Studied tools like Todoist, Akiflow, and Motion to identify gaps.

  • User Interviews: Talked with professionals and freelancers who struggled with daily planning.

  • Behavioral Insights: Observed that most users wrote tasks vaguely or scattered across different tools, and had difficulty sticking to one consistent system.

Key Insights:

  1. Users often start their day without a clear plan, leading to stress and missed deadlines.

  2. Productivity apps felt overwhelming with too many options and complex UIs.

  3. Users wanted automation, but also control — AI should assist, not replace.

  4. Maintaining focus was as important as task management (distractions were a big challenge).

[BRANDING DESIGN]

BeforeSunset AI’s visual identity is built around a clean and energetic style that balances clarity with motivation. The Figtree typeface ensures readability while keeping a modern and approachable tone. The color palette — Baby Powder, Coral, Teal, and Charcoal — reflects a mix of calm focus and vibrant energy, aligning with the product’s mission to make planning both efficient and enjoyable. The branding system extends across web, mobile, and marketing assets to create a consistent, recognizable experience.

BeforeSunset AI was designed to deliver a seamless experience across both desktop and mobile. While the desktop interface focuses on comprehensive task and calendar management, the mobile version emphasizes quick access and on-the-go productivity. Together, they create a consistent and flexible workflow, ensuring users can plan, organize, and focus anytime, anywhere.
